"A Piece of Cake by Onelia" is a home grown business established in Calgary, Alberta by me, Onelia!

At the age of 12 I broke my first eggs into a mixing bowl and started making cakes from mixes and simple cookie recipes from my recipe book.  It became a ritual on Saturdays when I was home from school.

I believe that I got my baking genes from my aunt who loved to bake and was very good at it.  No one else in my family liked to bake.  I was honored when in my aunt's later years, she asked me to make her a sponge cake.

My love of baking turned into a desire to decorate.  I studied many books and practiced all the time.  Later I took a job at a bakery where I learned hands-on training and skills from my co-workers.

I was always told that if I had a real interest and was willing to learn and work that I would succeed.  And now after 28 years in the baking industry I have been happy to please my customers with my creations.
