1. Do your cakes taste as good as they look? You bet! I am well known for great taste. I always get thank you notes commenting on how delicious, moist & flavourful my cakes are.
2. Which are your most popular flavours? Vanilla cake with a custard cream filling, or a mix of layers of delicious chocolate and white cake. My cakes are always made fresh with the very best ingredients.
3. Do I need to bring anything to my appointment?
You can bring pictures of cake designs from bridal magazines, other photographs or your own sketches. You should also bring any accessories you may already have, such as your cake topper, ribbon, silk flowers and colour swatches etc. You should also have a general idea of your style so your cake compliments your wedding theme.
However, some brides prefer to seek my guidance and advice. I would be happy to help you plan your wedding cake.
4. Can I choose more than one flavour?
Yes. Please see my Cake Selections page on my website.
5. Can you copy a picture from a magazine?
I do it all the time!! Many people like my reproductions better than the original I am copying. I love to see new ideas.
6. Do the prices include the fresh flowers?
No, you need to order your flowers through your florist. You get the best price that way, and you are sure the flowers will match. I will provide any handmade royal icing or buttercream flowers, fondant bows, etc. that you may choose.
7. What size cake will I need?
That depends on how you will be using it. Will it be on display for most of the evening and cut toward the end? Will some of your guests have come and gone before you cut the cake? Is the cake being served as dessert after a sit-down dinner? Will it be added as part of the desserts at the midnight buffet?
Other points to consider: How big of an impact do you want your cake to make? How large is the area where it will be displayed? Is the cake high on your priority list? Is the cake a grand centerpiece?
***Please note: Any cake you see can be made in either a larger or smaller version. Don't choose your cake style solely by the size you see in a picture.
8. How soon do I need to order my cake? I usually book 2-3 months before your wedding. May, June, July and August fill quickly, so it's best to order as early as you can for these months. A $100 deposit will put you on my calendar. The balance is due 2 weeks before your wedding date.
9. How many wedding cakes do you book per weekend?
I create 1 to 3 wedding cakes on an average weekend. Quantity of bookings is factored on the number of guests at your event, difficulty of the cake design and location of the reception site.
10. Do you have a pamphlet or brochure you can send me?
No, my web site is the best source for information about my cakes.
11. Do you make "dummy cakes"?
Yes, I do. However, dummy (fake) cakes are not cost effective for the bride. The labor to construct and decorate a dummy cake is comparable to a real cake.
12. Do you make other occasion cakes?
Yes, I do many occasion cakes such as birthday, anniversary, graduation, and more. Please see my Cake Gallery.
13. Do you offer a reference list?
References can be seen on my website's Friends & Resources page.
14. Can I request that each layer have a different flavour and filling?
Absolutely.
15. Do you charge to deliver and set-up the cake?
Yes. All deliveries are evaluated on a cake by cake basis as locations and distances vary. Local delivery and set-up is usually about $50.00.
16. Can you supply cake boxes for saving the top tier?
Yes, upon request. I will leave a cake box for the top tier and will gladly leave extra cake boxes if needed.
17. When is full payment due?
When you place your order, a down payment of $100.00 is requested to secure your wedding cake order. The balance is due 2 weeks prior to the reception date.
18. What is your cancellation policy?
Unfortunately no refunds or credits can be made on wedding cake orders cancelled less than 1 week before the reception date.
